Frequently Asked Questions
How does the environment support someone with advanced dementia?
Our specialist home is a purposely designed, 16-bed facility that is physically distinct from our general residential site to ensure a calm, low-stimulus atmosphere. Following our 2023 refurbishment, the layout is specifically engineered to reduce cognitive stress, promote easy navigation, and enhance safety for those with complex memory needs.
What safety measures are in place to prevent wandering or accidents?
Safety is our absolute priority. The dementia wing is a secure, wheelchair-friendly environment equipped with full en-suite wet rooms in every bedroom to prevent falls and promote safe independence. Furthermore, we maintain excellent staffing levels to ensure constant, high-quality supervision and person-centred support for all residents.
Can my loved one bring personal items to make their room feel like home?
Yes, we encourage residents to personalise their space to aid with orientation and comfort. Each of our 16 specialist rooms includes phone and television points, as well as internet access, allowing residents to stay connected to their familiar life and family.
How do you manage the changing costs associated with dementia care?
We maintain a transparent financial policy. While our general residential rate is approximately £1,080, dementia residential fees are specifically dependent on the individual level of need to ensure fair and accurate pricing. We accept various funding types, including Self-funding, Local Authority support, and NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC)
Are we allowed to visit at any time to check on our relative?
Absolutely. We operate a strict open-door policy, welcoming family and friends to visit without a prior appointment. This transparency is a core part of our “family focus” philosophy, ensuring you remain an active part of your loved one’s life and care journey.
What Our Residents & Families Say
We believe the best way to understand the quality of care at Orme View is to hear from those who experience it daily.
I have been here for over a year. I cannot find any fault with the care home. The staff are very willing to help with anything. I have nothing but respect for all staff and are made welcome, very much appreciated.
- Robert L (Resident)
Having had my dad stay at Orme View for over a year before he passed away recently, I can only thank and commend the manager and his team at Orme View for their dedication and kindness towards not only my dad, but to our family as well. We could call at any time, were always kept informed and the team were always prepared to listen to the family and to adapt to my dad’s needs as they changed over the year. The care they gave him especially in the final few weeks is so much appreciated. Would highly recommend Orme View.

My nan moved to Orme View a few months back and she absolutely loves it.
The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. I’m offered tea and cake every time I visit which is always a nice touch.
The management is lovely and they always check how we are as a family which I find really heart-warming, they do always seem to be at Orme View which is a nice touch to see.
They have a wide range of activities going on which my nan seems to enjoy as she always rings me up to tell me about what she’s been up to that week.
On occasions when I visit I hear some of the staff singing through the corridors with the residents and the songs can vary and you just know they are enjoying themselves. Such a home-from-home vibe.
- Mark E (Grandson of Resident)
My mother moved to Orme View Residential Home in April 2023, and was there until her death in November 2023. She had moved from independent living, where she had been for just a few months, but it became apparent very quickly that she had become too frail for that setting. She was assessed by the management team from Orme View, and a bed was made available very quickly for her.
While my mother did not want to be in residential care, the staff there made it easy for her, and became very fond of her, in spite of her being rather cantankerous! She was always smart, and well kept.
The care that she received, throughout her stay there, was second to none, and I would, and have, recommended it to others. Nothing was too much trouble, and they were keen for her to be happy there, rather than move her again as her needs increased. The care she received towards the end of her life was outstanding, and I would not hesitate to recommend the home.
- Sian W (Daughter of Resident)
My mum went into Orme View in June 2023 and I cannot overstate how caring and friendly all the staff are. My mum is treated with love and dignity and her wishes and feelings are always the first consideration for all the staff including the owner and management. She is always clean and smartly dressed and is very content to be a resident. The food is excellent and varied and there is usually something going on in the lounge to entertain the residents (if they want to be). Nothing is ever too much trouble. All of us feel very fortunate to be able to have found Orme View for Mum. I have absolutely no concerns about her since she moved in. I would absolutely recommend this family-run care home to anybody.
